Exploring the Carolinas one Pint at a time

Brew News

Two stormy weekends in a row so your local breweries, bars, and restaurants are being impacted in their already slow season when often the weekend is the real money making time. So if you can afford it, it would be a great time to stop by a local establishment. Dry January is over and you have been cooped up in the house for too long so get out there.

A quick note, working on improving format i.e look/feel so expect some changes, I’d to break things out by category and a search bar, plus a few other features.

In Wilmington news that Edward Teach is closing, ever since the incidents with the former owner made it to the media, they have a tough go losing traction in the market despite an ownership change.

In other closure news American Craft Beer has a story featuring 10 breweries that closed in 2025. I make note of it because it confirms Brüeprint Brewing Company had closed, something I figured had happened because I didn’t see them in the market, but good to see a confirmation. I know they lost their lease in Apex for the brewing space and had been contract brewing the last few years. It also mentions Duck Rabbit which was less of a surprise, they had lost their primary sales representative and were selling keg stock so while sad news it wasn’t unexpected.

Out in Black Mountain a story about Black Mountain Brewing that started back in August. A deck that had been in the permitting process was ordered closed the town, the brewery had been told the permit was issued but never was. In a time when North Carolina mountain towns are hurting, why making life difficult on a tourism engine is frankly beyond me. Mistakes were made but they should sit down and find a solution.

Three stories out of Charlotte this week. First Pilot Brewing is featured in the video on a pub crawl event they were participating in. Follow up stories on the rebranding Club West Brewing (formerly Sycamore). Lastly the Charlotte Business Journal has followed up on the Sugar Creek‘s relocation to Gastonia.

In events this week speaking of Charlotte is the Queen City Brewers festival and in Winston Salem Wiseman Brewing is hosting IPA Fest both are slated for Saturday.
