We start off the week with a post from NC Brewers Guild on how you can support your local brewery after the recent waves of Winter weather. The Guild does a great job promoting NC beer, but one thing you may not be aware is that they formed a charitable non-profit. It’s given over $200,000 in support to breweries in Western NC after Hurricane Helene, but that just a start this Summer they will also start funding Educational Scholarships.
Out of Wilmington we have more details and background on Edward Teach’s pending closure.
In the Charlotte area we have word of Carolina Premium Beverage and United Beverages to merge in United Carolina Beverages, I doubt this merger will have much impact on the average beer drinker or NC brewery.
Lastly not a Carolina specific story but more the state of the industry the Brewers Association has a response to a criticism that the industry has an oversupply issue. Like most issues this isn’t a singular cause and over simplification of complicated matter. Well worth the read.
Check out the local brewery events here. Postscript, Happy Lucky 13th to Appalachian Mountain Brewery who will be celebrating their anniversary Saturday in their original taproom.
