Exploring the Carolinas one Pint at a time

Brew News

Starting off the week with a profile of Oscar Wong, Founder of Highland Brewing, if you ever have the chance to visit their rooftop taproom it’s simply one of the best views in the Carolinas.

Vinepair has a write up on cheap eats paired with Craft Beer, Hi-Wire Brewing and Tasty Beverage get mentioned. Johnny said it’s really helped drive traffic for Tasty, he does offer a special every Weiner Wednesday.

Crooked Hammock gets a preview by News and Observer, also the brewery is looking for a Jeep for the Raleigh location.

Lonerider CEO Sumit Vohra has an interesting read, the Founding Narrative of a business, not exactly about beer but still a great read.

Back to beer, the Brewers Association notes that Ball, can manufacturer, has sold out it’s production supply for 2026. Ball made headlines in the industry in 2021-22 for adding new minimums of order 5 truck loads per SKU this meant that smaller craft breweries were pushed out from being direct customers of the company and forced to buy through resellers. Even though craft is decline it means other products using their cans are being successful at least for now. How Congress will deal with THC drinks is the monster under the bed for Ball and a number of local breweries as well. I asked a friend with a mobile canning company what she thought about the announcement and “I see it as a good sign for all beverages. As the spectrum moves around from cold sellers to hot sellers. Pretty interesting though how some buyers are set for the next decade.”

Speaking of mobile canning ProBrewer has an article discussing it’s current state.

Last story by Randy Mosher features a fascinating interview with a flavor researcher.

Busy weekend coming up with events at Zebulon, Eno River Brewing, and Amore Artis Brewing, go check them out.
